The film is a clear layer fitted over the pane, so anything aimed at the window meets the film first. Spray paint, marker, glass scribing tools and acid etching mark that layer rather than the glass. When it has been hit, the film is removed and replaced and the pane behind it is as it was. The glass itself is never cut, treated or refinished.

That depends on how many panes are affected, how large they are and how they are reached, so it is a question for the dealer quoting the work rather than a figure Kepler can put on it. What can be said is that it is a film job and not a glazing job: nothing comes out of the frame and no new glass has to be ordered.

The saving is in what you replace. Without film, a scratched or etched pane becomes a glazing job: new glass, a fitter, and a boarded window until it arrives. With film, the same incident costs a sheet of film and the labor to change it, and the glazing already in the frame stays there. That is the trade the film is built around; the actual figures depend on your glass and on the dealer's quote.

The two names are used loosely, so it is worth being precise. Anti-graffiti film is a surface layer: it deals with what happens to the face of the glass, such as paint, marker, scratching and etching. Films sold for vandalism or forced entry are thicker and work through the pane, helping hold broken glass in place and slowing someone trying to get through it. They answer different risks, and some sites fit both, with the sacrificial layer on top.

Removal is designed into the product: graffiti film is made to come off quickly so a fresh sheet can go on without damaging the pane. Some films are supplied as a stack of thin sheets, where the top sheet is peeled away to reveal a clean one underneath and only the last layer calls for a full refit. Your dealer will tell you which type they are quoting.

Fitting film needs access to the glass rather than to your stock or your systems. Where the film goes on the outside face, the installer works from the street side and your counter keeps running; where it goes on the inside, you will need to clear access to the window. Agree the timing with the dealer beforehand so the work lands when it suits the business.

Repair and replacement are reactive: you wait for the damage, then pay to undo it. Film moves the problem onto a layer you have already decided to give up, so the response becomes planned maintenance rather than an emergency. It also covers the damage that is hardest to undo, since deep scratching and acid etching usually mean replacing a pane rather than polishing it.

Yes, they do different jobs. Kepler lists its safety and security window film as K-Shield, an 8 mil film designed to help hold shattered glass together after an impact. Anti-graffiti film works the other way round: it is a thin sacrificial layer on the surface that takes the scratching, etching or paint and is peeled off and renewed while the glass stays where it is. Plenty of commercial sites use both, and your dealer can explain which combination suits your glazing.
