The windshield takes only a transparent strip along the top, which must not reach into the AS-1 area or more than six inches down. Red, gold, yellow, black and mirror-finish films are prohibited, and only one sheet of film may go on a window. If your Tesla is one the manufacturer identifies as a truck, motor home or multipurpose passenger vehicle, the glass behind the driver may go darker. Leave the windows up until the dealer who fitted the film tells you it has cured — how long that takes depends on the film, the weather and the car, so take their word for it rather than a number off the internet. After that it is easy: a soft cloth and an ammonia-free glass cleaner, no scouring pads, no scrapers and nothing abrasive near the edges.
