Windows are usually the weakest point in a home's thermal envelope, and solar control film is a way to improve them without replacing the glazing. By cutting the solar energy coming through the glass, film reduces the heat load your air conditioning has to remove during the hotter months, and it does that quietly in the background once installed. It also filters UV and softens glare, so the room is simply more comfortable to sit in. What film will do on your windows depends on their orientation, size and existing glazing, which is why identifying the glass first matters: single-pane, double-pane and low-e units behave differently, and the recommendation should follow from what is actually there. A dealer can look at that with you before you commit to a range.
