Window Tinting Colorado

Window film does several things at once: it cuts solar heat coming through the glass, reduces glare, blocks over 99% of UV and adds privacy, and it changes how a car or a building looks. How much of each you get depends on the shade, which is why Kepler publishes the figures shade by shade rather than one headline number. A light film that keeps a room bright will always reject less heat than a darker one, so the trade-off is worth talking through before you choose.

Compare specifics rather than adjectives. Ask which Kepler range is being quoted and at which shade, then look at the published visible light transmission, glare reduction and total solar energy rejection for that exact shade. Ask what the warranty covers and who raises a claim if something goes wrong. Prices are set by each independent dealer, so it is fair to ask what is included in the figure you are given.

Start with the problem. If a room overheats, compare total solar heat rejection across the solar-control shades. If you want privacy in daylight, the reflective and frosted films are the ones designed for it. If it is a car and you want heat control without a mirrored look or signal interference, that is what the nano-ceramic IR films are for. Then check the choice against the glass you have, because existing glazing affects how a film performs and what can be applied to it, which is why installers are told to assess the glass, edges, frames and seals first.

Colorado sets the limits in state law. Windows other than the windshield must not fall below 27% light transmittance, and on the windshield only a strip at the top may be covered. The statute also limits how reflective treated glass may be, so strongly mirrored finishes are ruled out. The reading that counts is the glass and film together rather than the film on its own, so tell your dealer which shade you want and let them work back from the law, checking the current statute before you commit.

Treat the film as the surface you are cleaning. Use a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner, keep scrapers and rough sponges away from it, and leave newly fitted film to cure before its first clean; your installer will tell you how long that takes on the film they used. If film later bubbles, peels or discolours, that is what the manufacturing warranty is for, and the business that fitted it raises the claim.

Overheating rooms, glare on screens, furnishings fading in the sun and windows overlooked from the street are the problems film is designed for, and it addresses them without replacing the glazing. If none of those apply, film may not be the answer.
