Film technology, explained

Kepler IR and IR+ are nano-ceramic automotive ranges, engineered so that the shade you see and the solar performance you feel are two separate things. Visible light transmission simply describes how much light passes through the film; it is not a measure of heat performance, which is why a light film and a dark film can behave very differently in the sun. When comparing options, compare the exact film and the exact shade rather than judging by appearance alone. On the architectural side, film can address glare, solar heat or daytime privacy depending on the product and the glass it goes onto, so identifying the existing glazing is the first step in any specification. Reflective films work on the balance of light between inside and out, which means daytime privacy does not carry over to after dark.
