Ceramic Window Tinting West Virginia

In Kepler’s range they are the same thing. Kepler IR and Kepler IR+ are both nano-ceramic films, and the IR in the name refers to the infrared heat they are built to reject rather than to a different material. What separates the two ranges is how much of that infrared they stop: 81% across Kepler IR, and 98% across Kepler IR+ from Nebula through Stratum, easing to 93% at Photon.

Kepler publishes two separate measurements, and they answer different questions. Infrared rejection is 81% across Kepler IR and 98% across Kepler IR+ from Nebula through Stratum. Total solar energy rejection, which covers the whole solar spectrum rather than infrared alone, runs from 66% to 51% on Kepler IR and from 72% to 51% on Kepler IR+, darkest to lightest. West Virginia summers are warm and humid, with summer highs near 85°F in the south-west and below 80°F in the east-central mountains, so the difference tells most on a car parked in the open.

The honest comparison is against dyed and metalized car window tintingfilm. Dye absorbs light and fades with it. Metal reflects heat well but brings a mirror-like look and the signal problems metalized tint is known for. Kepler IR+ is described by Kepler as reaching its performance without relying on dyes or metals, and Kepler IR is built on the same nano-ceramic principle, which is why the finish stays non-reflective and consistent across curved and flat glass and your phone, GPS and radio are left alone.

Price turns on the film, the number of windows and the shape of the glass, and it is set by the dealer doing the work rather than by Kepler. Treat it as exactly that: the dealer who takes your enquiry confirms the real price with you once they know the vehicle and the shade you want.

Ask your dealer for their aftercare instructions before you drive away, and follow those rather than general advice: how long to leave the windows up while the adhesive cures, and which glass cleaners they want kept away from the film. Kepler’s own cover is a Warranty Information against product defects such as bubbling, peeling and fading for the life of the vehicle. It is a warranty on the material, so it does not extend to damage caused after fitting.

Not to any standard worth relying on. A heat lamp and a thermometer on the driveway will not reproduce the test conditions behind a published infrared or total-solar figure, and a phone app will not measure light transmission the way West Virginia measures it. What you can check is the label: the manufacturer must fix one of no more than one and a half square inches between the film and the glazing, in the lower left corner of each glazing surface as you face the vehicle from outside, showing the manufacturer name and the percentage of light transmission. West Virginia sets a floor of 35% light transmission and a ceiling of 20% reflectivity on the windows either side of the driver. The same two numbers apply to the windows behind the driver, except that the light transmission requirement does not apply to the rear windows of trucks, buses, trailers, mobile homes and multipurpose passenger vehicles. On the windshield, film must be nonreflective, may not be red, yellow or amber, and may not come below the AS-1 line or more than five inches from the top, whichever is closer. A breach is a misdemeanor under §17C-15-36a and carries a fine of not more than $200.

No metal goes into either Kepler ceramic range. Kepler describes IR+ as reaching its performance without relying on dyes or metals, and describes the nano-ceramic layer in Kepler IR as managing heat without the signal issues associated with metalized tint. Phone, GPS, keyless entry and radio carry on as before. If your rear screen has heating elements or an embedded antenna, tell your dealer the exact vehicle so they can plan the fit around them.

It depends what you are buying it for. If you want a legal shade and a tidy look, a basic film will do that. Ceramic earns the difference on heat and glare: up to 98% infrared rejection, total solar energy rejection up to 72%, ultraviolet transmittance under 1% on every shade, and glare reduction up to 95%, all published shade by shade rather than as one headline. It also holds a non-reflective finish and leaves your electronics alone, which dyed and metalized films do not both manage.
