Start with the job. On a car, the shade sets both the look and the legal position, and the nano-ceramic IR and IR+ ranges are built to hold back heat without a mirrored finish or the signal interference associated with metalised film. On a building, the glass you already have matters: the US Department of Energy describes high-performance windows as an assembly of multiple panes, insulated frames, gas fills and low-emissivity coatings, so the glazing should be identified before a film is specified for it. Georgia sets the limits in Code Section 40-8-73.1. The Department of Public Safety summarises them this way: on the windows beside the driver, the windows behind the driver and the rear windshield, applied material may not reduce light transmission below 32%, plus or minus 3%, or increase light reflectance above 20%, and no tint may be applied to the front windshield apart from listed exceptions such as the uppermost six inches. Certain vehicles are excepted for the rear glass, including multipurpose passenger vehicles, buses and limousines, and glass darkened before factory delivery is treated separately. A violation is a misdemeanor, and that applies to the installer as well as the driver; the Department may issue permits to people with special medical needs. Because the meter reads the glass and the film together, ask your installer what the finished window will measure.

That depends on the vehicle or the property and on the business doing the work, so the honest answer is to ask the dealer quoting for your job: Kepler supplies the film and does not set anyone's schedule. What is common to every fit is the sequence, in that the glass is cleaned, the film is cut to the opening, applied and then left to cure. Ask your installer when the film can be cleaned and when the windows can be rolled down again.

Treat the film as the surface you are cleaning, not the glass. A soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner keep it clear, while scrapers, scouring pads and harsh solvents can mark it. Kepler's film warranty covers manufacturing defects rather than scratches, accidental damage or general wear, so gentle cleaning is a habit worth keeping. Your installer can tell you how soon after fitting the windows should first be cleaned.

Film reduces the solar heat coming through the glass, and Kepler publishes 99% ultraviolet rejection across the architectural range along with heat rejection figures listed film by film. Whether that shows up on a bill is a separate question: it depends on the glazing you already have, which way the windows face, how the building is used and how it is cooled. The US Department of Energy treats glass, coatings, frames and cavity fills as one system, so film is best understood as one part of that system rather than a guaranteed saving.

It depends on what is bothering you about the glass. If rooms overheat, glare washes out screens, or furnishings and floors are fading, a solar film addresses all three, and the architectural range runs from a neutral tint through reflective, dual-reflective and ceramic to frosted and blackout finishes. If the concern is the glass breaking, K-Shield is an 8 mil safety and security film designed to help hold shattered glass together, which is a different question from solar control and should be specified as such. Kepler warrants its film: the automotive ranges carry a Warranty Information against manufacturing defects such as bubbling, peeling and fading for the life of the vehicle, while architectural films carry a 10 year limited, non-transferable product warranty whose thermal glass and seal cover varies by range and is subject to Kepler's stated dealer qualification and value caps. Installation and workmanship belong to the independent business that fitted the film. Kepler does not handle warranty claims directly with vehicle owners, so you go back to the installing shop, which contacts Kepler if the fault qualifies.
