Kepler IR+ turns away up to 98% of the infrared heat that makes a parked car unbearable. Infrared is one band of the sun's energy rather than all of it, so Kepler publishes total solar energy rejection separately: 72% on the darkest shade down to 51% on the lightest. Read the two figures together for the shade you are quoted.
Every IR+ shade blocks 99% of the ultraviolet — the part of the sunlight that takes the color out of a dashboard over a few Virginia summers. Glare comes down with it, so low sun on an east-west commute stops being something you squint through.
The heat work in IR+ is done by ceramic, not by a layer of metal. That is why you do not have to go dark to stay cool: even the lightest shade in the range keeps 93% of the infrared heat outside, and every shade is the same 1.5 mil film underneath.
Film goes on the inside of the glass — the face that meets seat belts, sunglasses, dogs and cleaning cloths for the rest of the car's life. So Kepler finishes IR+ with a Scratch Guard+ coating over the ceramic, and that hard outer layer is the part you actually touch.
Your key, your phone, your toll transponder and the car's own antennas all work through the glass. A metallized film lays a conductive layer straight across that path. Kepler IR+ has no metal in it at all, so everything that needs to get through still does.
The stack runs in order from the glass out into the cabin. Kepler names three of its parts for the job each one does: the nano-ceramic layer that handles the heat, the Ultra Bond adhesive that holds the film flat to the glass, and the Scratch Guard+ coating on the face you touch — all of it inside 1.5 mil.
