Anti-graffiti film is a sacrificial layer. It sits over the glass and takes the paint, the marker pen and the blade that would otherwise reach the window. It is made to be replaced rather than repaired, so when the damage is confined to the film, a fresh sheet restores the look of the pane underneath. That is the whole idea: the film is the part you expect to lose.

It depends on the number of panes and how they are reached; a single storefront window is not the same job as a full concourse. Replacing film is broadly the same work as fitting it the first time, since the old sheet comes off and a new one goes on. Kepler does not set the schedule; your dealer is an independent business and will tell you what your job involves.

You do, unless someone is caught. Utah’s graffiti statute defines the victim as the person whose property is defaced and who bears the expense for removal, and if there is a conviction the court can order restitution for the costs you incurred. It also puts limits on your local authority: before a government agency cites or fines you for graffiti you have not removed, it must give you written notice, a list of removal resources and one week to clear it, and there is a route for owners facing physical or financial hardship.

The two names get used loosely, so ask what is actually being quoted: a clear sacrificial layer for surface damage, or a thicker film intended for impact. They are separate products, so have each one specified separately on your quote.

That is the point of it. Anti-graffiti film is designed to be removed and replaced rather than repaired, so a tagged or scratched sheet is stripped off and a new one goes on. How straightforward that is on your building depends on how many panes are involved and how high they are, so ask your Kepler dealer to look at the actual glass and confirm which film they can supply for it.

Film goes onto the glass, not into the structure, so nothing is removed or reglazed. How much it affects your day depends on where the glass is and how much of it there is; a run of restroom mirrors is a different proposition from a two-story atrium. Your dealer will tell you what access they need before anything is arranged.

Washing takes paint off. It does nothing about a deep scratch or an acid etch, because that damage is in the glass itself, and often the answer is a new pane. With film in place, that damage is confined to the sheet, and replacing the sheet restores the look of the glass. You are replacing a consumable instead of a window.

Safety and security window film and anti-graffiti film answer different threats. Security film is built to help hold a shattered pane together; Kepler publishes K-Shield, an 8 mil safety and security film, for that job. Anti-graffiti film is not about impact at all. It is a thin clear layer that takes surface damage and is replaced once it has taken enough. A building can specify both, and they remain two separate products doing two separate jobs.
