Solar control film is the workhorse of commercial tinting. It goes on the inside of the glass you already have and turns back part of the sun's energy before it becomes heat in the room, which takes load off the cooling equipment on the days it is already working hardest. Kepler publishes the figures for its Cosmic shades: Cosmic 19 is rated at 64% total solar heat rejection, Cosmic 35 at 53%. West-facing offices, atriums and any elevation that takes unfiltered afternoon sun are the usual candidates.

Screen glare is the complaint that gets film specified in most offices. A bright window behind or opposite a monitor makes people squint, tilt screens and pull the blinds down, and once the blinds are down the daylight you paid for is gone. Film lowers the brightness of the window itself, so the screens stay readable and the room stays lit. Kepler rates Cosmic 19 at 78% glare reduction. It is a small change people notice on the first sunny afternoon.

Frosted film is the privacy answer that does not look like a compromise. Aurora, Kepler's white frosted film, turns clear glass into an even panel that still passes daylight, which is why it ends up on meeting rooms, treatment rooms, glazed stairwells and reception screens. It is also where branding happens: cut a logo, a company name or a banding pattern from the film and the sheet doing the privacy job carries your identity at eye level.

Ask a dealer for a quote and bring a photograph or a drawing of the glass, because frosted work is usually specified pane by pane.

Reflective film gives you privacy from the street in daylight without giving up the view out. Chromosphere is Kepler's silver version, mirrored on the outside face; Ecliptic is dual reflective, keeping that outward reflectivity while leaving a more refined view from a desk inside. Both work on solar heat as well, so a ground-floor office usually gets its privacy and its heat control in one film. One thing to know before you specify it: the effect reverses after dark, when the inside is the brighter side.

Sunlight fades stock, woodwork, flooring and artwork. Utah's health department names the state's higher elevation as one possible reason UV exposure runs high here, and the sun does not have to feel hot to bleach a display. Kepler publishes 99% UV rejection for its Cosmic shades, which is inexpensive protection for a showroom, a gallery wall or a rack standing in a south window. It will not stop fading altogether, since heat and visible light play their part too.

Glass is where much of a commercial building's unwanted heat arrives, and the cooling equipment spends the afternoon taking it back out. Film changes the first half of that. What it cannot do is quote you a saving in advance: the Department of Energy's building science guidance is a reminder that pane count, gas fill and low-emissivity coatings already govern how a window handles heat, so the glass you have shapes what the film adds. Ask a dealer to look at the actual glazing, and treat any energy figure as something to model rather than assume.

Glare and heat are measured separately, and the film that fixes one does not automatically fix the other. Glare is about brightness: sun tracking across a monitor at four o'clock, a reception desk nobody can sit at in July. Bringing the visible light down is what solves it, so the real question is how dark to go. Kepler rates Cosmic 19 at 78% glare reduction and the lighter Cosmic 35 at 61%, which is the difference between a decisive tint and one that keeps the room bright.

Security film is about what happens to the glass after the impact. K-Shield is Kepler's 8 mil safety and security film, designed to help hold the pieces together so a broken pane does not simply leave the frame. Holding glass together is not the same as a tested forced-entry, ballistic or blast rating, so if a certified specification is required, ask for the test evidence covering the exact glass, film and frame you intend to fit.

The same film has a plainer, everyday use: keeping broken glass off the floor. Panes fail from impacts, slammed doors and thermal stress, and in a public space the hazard is as much the glass that falls afterwards as the break itself. Safety film is made to hold the fragments to the sheet, so a failed pane crazes and stays in its opening, and the area can be made safe and boarded without a floor covered in glass. Stairwell glazing, partitions and door lights are the usual places to specify it.

Anti-graffiti film is a clear layer fitted over exposed glass, and it is meant to be replaced rather than repaired: when it has taken enough tagging, scratching or etching, the sheet comes off and a fresh one goes on. Street-level frontages, transom panels and elevator lobbies are where that pays, because the alternative is replacing a full storefront pane.
